The setting is a very important to the understanding of All Under Heaven; all the conflicts and characters only exist because of the setting. I wanted to quickly explain the setting. This is what this comic does. The first image depicts a shaman protecting the spirits of a fallen starship. The bottom corner shows armoured soldiers marching past ruined terraforming towers, which once spewed chemicals to manufacture a breathable atmosphere. In the center is a view of Tienanji, capital of the Celestial Empire. Visible are the great sky-scraper spires of yore still jutting bravely out from the vast city sprawl. The Imperial Palace rises in the near distance, purposefully built higher than any skyscraper ruins. It's quite funny that, despite the fact that the Empire rules as the greatest state in recent memory, it still must compete with the long-faded glory of the derelict skeletons of yore. So enduring is the dominion of the now-fallen Old World that, even as the years pass and new empires rise and fall, it will remain as an eternal reminder of humanity’s failings.
